ONAWAY
Neil Strzelecki
Week two and the weather co-operated, the rain held off, and we got to see some great racing once again at the Onaway Speedway.
Terrin DuBois, 12 years old, started his racing career by wining the dash in the the four cylinder class. The first yellow of the night flew in the dash when Sadie Riley got loose and spun in turns 1 and 2. Her spin out was much easier on the heart, compared to last week when she ended up sliding into turn 1 on her roof. She pitted after the yellow and DuBois had the lead on the restart. DuBois won the dash, Austin Nash was second and Jacob Flickenger was third.
The heat ran caution free with Jacob McBee taking the checkers, Braden DuBois was second, and Flickenger took third. McBee held the early lead in the feature, ahead of three wide racing in lap five. Riley had to pit on lap seven with a flat tire. McBee had a nice lead while Zack Golbeck and Flickenger raced door to door for second and right behind them Zack Ohenley and Justin Ohman raced door to door for fourth. McBee won the feature, Golbeck took second and Nash took third.
John Clawson won the pure stock dash followed by Zack Knight and Chris Stark. Knight and stark raced door to door for the first three laps when Stark got loose and got into Knight in turn 4. The yellow flew and Stark was sent to the rear on the restart. Knight and
Kyle Loshaw was piloting the six car in the bomber division tonight and won the dash. Chris Fulford was second and Ted Ormsbee was third. Ormsbee had a huge lead in the heat race but on the last lap he spun out coming out of turn 2 giving the lead to Loshaw, who spun out just pass Ormsbee allowing Seth Koronka to take the lead and the win. You just never know what will happen in the bombers. The feature was run clockwise and after a race of carnage only two cars were running. Fulford had a huge half a lap lead when his car developed problems allowing Loshaw to catch him on the last lap for the win. Fulford settled for second. Ormsbee won the $20 bounty for the best spin out.
Chris Conrad made his racing debut driving the 69 sports mod. Welcome to the Onaway
The Modifieds didn’t run this week but they will be back next week. The night finished with the amazing trailer races. John Clawson was the winner.
